Middle Eastern Impressions is a collection of musicians who have been working together for over 25 years. Their experience has spanned the gamut of middle eastern music of Armenian ,Greek and Arabic genres. Performances have included small house parties to large dances and weddings. The musicians are all located in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area and surrounding region. The works of this group have been ditstributed throughout middle eastern grocery and certain outlets for many years. The group has performed for weddings,belly dance parties, full scale show productions,corporate events and state department functions for foriegn dignitaries. Leo Derderian hails from Indian Orchard , Massachusetts. A nuclear engineer by trade,he enjoys making recordings of middle eastern music. At the age of five, he played the middle eastern drum called a dumbeg. Leo studied violin ,then graduated to the oud at the age of thirteen. With the help of other musicians he has produced and directed nine LP lenght recordings under the label Armenian Strings. He is widely regarded as an oud virtuoso; Some of the groups more notable performances include, the Nelson Rockefeller family, the Hariri Society, the Saudi Royal Family, the United Arab Emirates and several presidential inaugural events.
His style is clean,delicate, and dynamically sensitive. He has earned the respect of his fellow musicians.
